10x Pension Fund conference: Science versus Fiction in the Retirement Industry

The overall theme of the conference was the cost of investing and looked at index funds as a way of maximising your investments.

One of the highlights of the conference was the presentation made by 10x founder and CEO Steven Nathan in which he demystified retirement saving and why so many of us fail in our efforts to save for when we are no longer working.

During his presentation, Nathan crossed to a video interview he had conducted with John Bogle, the author of the Little Book of Common Sense Investing.

“If you read one book about investing in the next week or two,” said leading financial journalist Bruce Whitfield, who MC’ed the event, “make sure it’s this one. It’s exceptionally logical. He [Bogle] quotes many great investment minds. He [Bogle] quotes Benjamin Gray maintaining that if Gray had been alive today, he would be an index investor not a value investor. Maybe Warren Buffet as well.”
