The world is experiencing a protracted economic crisis and South Africa has not escaped its impact. The much needed economic development and growth are dampened by these developments and opportunities for new businesses, investment and employment are restricted. It is critical particularly in view of the official unemployment rate which continues to hover at the 25% mark that the South African economy and labour market respond to these realities and develop tools to address these challenges.
Employment, the economy & growth: The implications for Labour Law
The 26th Annual Labour Law Conference will get to grips with these realities and plenary sessions will:
- examine the relationship between employment, the economy and growth;
- examine the impact of upheavals in the mining industry on that industry and the South African economy in general; and
- engage with the interface between decent work and job creation and examine the nature and true social and economic cost of strikes.
In addition there will be 12 workshops, 2 of which will be repeated, covering issues relating to the main conference theme and recent developments in the labour market and employment law.
The Annual Labour Law Conference is a sound investment of your valuable time. With special rates for CCMA, Trade Unions, Bargaining Councils and Academics, the conference is accessible to all key players in the fields of labour law, industrial relations and human resources, giving you an opportunity for extensive networking. |
