MyCiTi Cape Town bus driver suspended for leading passengers in prayer

News24 reports that a MyCiTi bus driver has been suspended after he disobeyed an instruction to not lead passengers in prayer.
The driver, who is employed by Table Bay Area Rapid Transit (TBRT), was given a written warning on 10 November after a commuter complained, City of Cape Town mayoral committee member for transport, Brett Herron, said in a statement. Heron advised: "The bus driver was initially not disciplined, but asked to refrain from leading the passengers in prayer as there are passengers from mixed faiths on the MyCiTi bus who take exception to the practice.

The driver, however, disobeyed the instruction and was given a written warning on Tuesday 10 November 2015." The outcome of the case will only be known once a disciplinary hearing has been concluded.
