Transport Minister Dipuo Peters broke ground for a new train manufacturing plant in Dunnottar, Ekurhuleni on Saturday. Once complete, the R1-billion plant is expected to create about 1,500 jobs and boost the local economy.
Peters believes it will revive the struggling railway sector. The 52 hectare plant will create job opportunities and support small, medium and micro-sized enterprises that will be based permanently at the plant as suppliers for the main manufacturing of new trains.
