Student strikes at the DUT: Injured employee is the unsung hero

The employee is the head of the security team for the area of DUT in which the gate was located that the students stormed. As the hordes of marauding students attempted to storm the campus, he valiantly tried to keep the gates of the university of technology closed. However, he was unsuccessful and the strikers overpowered him so that they could carry on their protests on site.

The head of the security team – identified only as ‘Francois’ – was seriously injured during the stampede and was quickly examined by medical staff from the clinic on the DUT campus. He was rushed to a nearby casualty for further examination.

The most incredible part is that after only a few hours, Francois discharged himself and reported back at work because he felt it his duty to protect the campus.

Francois: We, at HR Pulse, salute you and wish that more employees across South Africa showed the same dedication to their jobs.
