With the dawn of every new year, there is a huge increase of job seekers looking for greener pastures. As the unemployment rate in South Africa increased from 24.9% in the second quarter of 2012 to 25.5% in the third quarter, I am finding that we are receiving a larger than normal response to our adverts placed.

Gone are the days when recruitment staff would sit with piles of paper CVs on their desks, trying to uncover the gems. It was sheer experience which taught HR professionals that some CVs looked good at first glance, and that some gem employees were masked behind poor CVs.
