1Mjobs2020- Africa's solution to unemployment

Andile Tlhoaele, well known and respected expert on BEE and a business development, has recently developed a support project for startups and SMME’s, #1Mjobs2020.

This week he brought this message, along with his expertise and knowledge to key workshops in the sector. Speaking at the Department of Telecoms Postal Services’s National Consultative Workshop on the e-Strategy, e-Government and ICT SMME Support Strategies held in Johannesburg, Andile shared his vision for the project that aims to create one million jobs in Africa by 2020 (#1Mjobs2020).

The project encourages tech entrepreneurs from any country to pledge to create jobs on any of the 52 countries in Africa, and similuteanously aims to mobilise stakeholders to support these entrepreneurs who have pledged to the campaign. This is an idea that came from Andile’s participation at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, Johannesburg #GEC2017 as a panelist (Startups Promoting Tech Solutions to African businesses) , as he explains further: “The 1Mjobs2020 is an answer to what legacy can #GEC2017 leave for Africa.

Job creation is not just about having people employed, its about economic development, when an unemployed person gets a job, they earn a salary, which result in an additional spending power in the economy, this is one of the ways to grow an economy of a country” African countries have the potential to grow their economies by creating new jobs especialy for the youth.”
