National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said on Thursday that it had signed a wage deal at the Nkomati Nickel Mine operated by African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), thereby ending a strike that started on Sunday.
The union indicated in a statement that its members had accepted a three-year wage deal that encompassed annual pay hikes of between 8.5% and 10% and increases in housing allowances. The Nkomati mine, located in Mpumalanga, is a joint venture operation between ARM and Russia’s Norilsk Nickel.
