Public protector speaks up about leadership
A SAPA report on News24 stated that at the annual Black Management Forum conference earlier this week public protector, Thuli Madonsela (pictured alongside), publicly stated that good governance starts with ethical leadership.
According to the news portal, she announced:
"Refrain from using power and connections to influence the issuing of unnecessary tenders or getting tenders you do not qualify for. Operate ethically, taking in to account the need for sustainability, including knowing that having islands of influence in a sea of poverty is not sustainable."
She also stated that people withholding knowledge from their colleagues negatively impacts on governance and warned about the importance of talent retention: "A high leadership and technical skills turnover in organisations exposes the organisation to uncertainties about rules, procedures and systems,” she said.
